Mar 28, 2011   //   by steve   //   General  //  No Comments

The new outdoor season got off to a good start on Sunday 27th, with the Rivernook American shoot. Great weather and a really friendly event at Rivernook’s new home at Imber Court. Royal Richmond were well represented in longbow and recurve, seniors and juniors. Well done to Matt Savage and Jesse Zeidaks, who took silver and gold respectively in the Junior Mens Recurve, and to Sabina Browne, who took bronze in the Womens Longbow. The rest of us had to make do with raffle prizes, winning about half of those on offer!

Several club members competed in the SCAS Indoor Championships held at the K2 Centre, Crawley on 6th March.

Jesse Zeidaks posted an excellent 546 to take another club record, though he missed out on the medals on this occasion. Matt Savage also put up a good performance with a score of 498.

On the seniors side, Geoff Newby (recently back from injury) hit 491, and Steve Thomson (who has no excuses) managed 541, but then went on to shoot in the second session to post a club record 552. With a cumulative  total of 1093 Steve finished in 8th place in the Open Double Portsmouth competition.

The third session of the day was a FITA 18 team event, and the club was represented by Barbara Littlechild, Sarah Gibbs and Steve Thomson (all recurve) along with John Cavanagh (compound). At the time of writing the official results haven’t been posted, but the team’s score was 1805 (BL – 493, ST – 459, JC – 528, SG – 330).
