I actually like what you have acquired here, certainly like what you are saying and the way in which you say it. You make it enjoyable and you still care for to keep it wise. I can't wait to read far more from you. This is actually a great website.

You definitely use msleucs you're not used to using when pulling a bow back, and keeping them in tune is definitely important. We honestly shoot almost all year round. Even doing that, though, we usually don't shoot during our 4 or 5 months of winter that much, and it takes a lot to get back in "bow" shape.Good luck with practice, and I hope the newsletter works out for ya.

Bring it on Hoss! I am a native Virginian moved "up North" (Maryland...not TOO far north) for work. There are far too few oordouts and especially hunting blogs focused in MD, DE, VA, and NC. I have been blogging for 3.5 years now and have done pretty much everything wrong at least twice, so if you feel so inclined, let me know if you have any questions or want any blog feedback. I am still learning, too. If you are interested, shoot me an email and I'll point you to the few mid-atlantic hunting & fishing blogs I know of. I look forward to reading your stuff. Don't get burnt out on it & don't be afraid to take a break if it's not working for you. And GO HOKIES (my apologies for that if you're from the Greater Albemarle Metropolitan Area)

Be careful to not hit your face or arm with the stirng when you let it go, I hear it isn't much fun. Also, don't squeeze the grip, there is a special way to hold it that won't ruin the accuracy. Be careful with broadheads (if you ever start using them hunting or whatever), they are ridiculously sharp and will cut you pretty good quite easily. There are actually some professional archery hunters that were found dead in the woods because they cut an artery on a broadhead and bled out before they could get to any help.It is apparent by the all the TDs that it tickles when you graze yourself with the stirng, and broadheads are actually made of foam and won't hurt you at all.

Mike,Drawing a 65# bow for practice does make you pertty strong, but it will wear you out. You were pertty observant to note that form is a critical component of shooting well. A 45# bow lets you concentrate on form and accuracy, which will transfer nicely to the 65# to 75#.That bow does look like a very compact package. The limb geometry appears, from the picture, to be exceptionally well balanced and even throughout the limb. CAD/CAM involved? Or is it all by eye and experience? If it is the latter, I can't wait to see what will come from the bowyer in the future.Sincerely,BF

Hi Vicky,
Our season has pretty much finished now, and we won't have any more beginners' courses until April or May of 2012. If you would like to be placed on our mailing list (we send out occasional newsletters to members and other folk who are interested ) I'd be happy to include you.

Email me: steveprofile@gmail.com if you would like to go on the list, and we can also let you know about courses as soon as we have dates.

I have been dying to try archery again since I tried it as a school girl. My Grandma used to play in Devon too. Am I too late to get involved ? Do I need to wait a year? Thanks
